The Probate Process
Probate is a series of legal procedures required to close the estate of the deceased. The probate attorney takes inventory of the assets, initiates property appraisals, handles pleadings, notices, a statement of accounting and a petition of distribution. After the distribution according to the person's Will (or in accordance with the intestate succession laws), the attorney prepares receipts and a supplemental judgment to close the estate.
